One of the easiest and quickest ways to add charm and the freshness of living plants to your home is with hanging planters. Outside your home, too. Hanging Planters for Your Home

There are many different types of containers you can use for your hanging planter, from a plastic pot to a metal one or ceramic one. Regardless of the material, though, the container must have adequate drainage holes at the bottom to prevent potential problems with your plant like root rot. Therefore, for indoor hanging planters, choose a container with a drip tray underneath, or you could place a smaller pot with holes into a larger pot to catch the excess water. Also, it’s important to choose a big enough pot so there is plenty of room for the plat to grow or you’ll spend all of your time pruning it back.

A good selection of indoor plants includes English Ivy, Spider Plants, Boston Fern, and Sting of Hearts.

Hanging Planters for Your Backyard

With larger spaces, your hanging planter can be bigger too. When choosing a pot for a large hanger though, it’s best to choose something not too heavy like ceramic, which by the time the soil and plant are added it might be so heavy it comes crashing down. Choose a lightweight metal, plastic, or wire container instead.

Woven and wire containers are frequently used in outside hangers. These kinds of containers have gaps that allow plants to grow out of the sides and even the bottom leading to a rounded, full, and lush effect.

Some sun-loving outdoor plants to choose from include Periwinkle, Lantana,  Verbena, and Moss Rose.

Keep Your Hanging Planters Thriving

To keep both indoor and outdoor hanging planters happy and healthy, make sure you keep up with the proper amounts of water and fertilizer. Besides familiarizing yourself with what’s recommended on the information card for each plant, remember that hanging plants require more water than those in the ground. Due to conditions such as dry indoor air or windy, sunny days outdoors, you may need to water your hanging plants as often as twice a day. Just monitor the soil of each one and if it’s dry to the touch, give it a little water.
