Be Prepared This Valentine’s Day With These Gift Ideas
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Yes, it seems like Christmas was just last week, but it’s now time to trade in the holiday lights and tree (that you haven’t taken down yet…) for pink and red boxes of chocolates and special occasion flowers for Valentine’s Day. That said, we understand that planning for Valentine’s Day can be tricky some years. Since it feels like the month of January has flown by, making any large preparations for February 14th just hasn’t made a spot on the docket. But just because you’re feeling time-crunched doesn’t mean that you can’t still make Valentine’s Day a special experience for whoever you’re celebrating with.
Today we want to give you some ideas for gift-giving this Valentine’s Day. These are the essentials — the items you don’t want to show up without. Whether you have made dinner reservations at your favorite restaurant or you’re planning on cooking a romantic meal at home, you’re going to want to include these items in your celebration.
Chocolate
Like we briefly alluded to above, Valentine’s Day is nothing without the token heart-shaped box of chocolates. There really isn’t a better way to say, “I love you” than by showering your special someone with chocolate galore. One of the great things about giving chocolate is that it’s so simple, yet so effective, and you have many options. Do they like dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or both? Or, perhaps they aren’t a fan of chocolate, but enjoy other sweet treats. If this is the case, surprise them with their favorite box of candy, their favorite pastry or baked good, or even a pint of their favorite ice cream. Valentine’s Day is a time to indulge, so you’re not going to want to forget something sweet.
Heartfelt, Handwritten Card
While it’s always fun receiving (and giving!) little gifts and treats to your loved one, nothing can replace a thoughtful, handwritten card. Whether you’re treating your special someone to a glittering piece of jewelry, or you’re keeping it simple this year, you’re not going to want to forget a card. Take the time to pick out one at the store and share your thoughts, love, and appreciation via written word inside. Even though this is such a small effort, the gesture will be meaningful and something that will be remembered for years to come.
Special Occasion Flowers
Aside from the chocolate, the card, and maybe even their favorite bottle of wine, the one thing you don’t want to show up without is flowers. Gifting or sending flowers, in general, is an excellent way of sharing your love and appreciation for someone, but when it comes to special occasion flowers, they tend to mean more. Here at Breen’s Florist, we know the importance of giving and receiving flowers, no matter the occasion, but especially on Valentine’s Day. The last thing you want is to show up empty handed, so make sure you have a bouquet of roses to gift.
