As we approach Thanksgiving, Breen’s Florist is asking ourselves, what does a modern Thanksgiving look like?
We cherish this holiday maybe more than any other. The way it captures our collective gratitude and makes an event out of it. The way it relies on family and friends gathering together, eating home-cooked food, and sharing stories. These are the aspects of the holiday that will never change, even as so many of us are putting a modern spin on how it’s done overall.
Whether you’re hosting a traditional Thanksgiving or a more casual, modern event, you’ll probably still have flowers at the center of your table. Maybe you’re having a potluck, throwing a Friendsgiving, or having the main parts of your meal catered; whatever style you’ve chosen, you’ll still need to lay out a serviceable table.
That means place settings and serve-ware that can accommodate all of your guests and still leave room for things like serving from platters and passing plates.
Consider whether or not you will use place cards if you need a kid’s table, and if you have the extra room for dishes your guests might surprise you with.
Lay everything out on the table a night or two before to ensure that it will all fit. Don’t forget to place your gorgeous flowers at the center.
